After BBB reviewed applications and nominations, volunteer judges from third-party community organizations assessed company entries on four key factors: integrity, involvement, innovation and impression. Out of 98 contenders, the winners earned the highest recognition.

Scholarship: In conjunction with Business of the Year, BBB recognizes the Alaska, Oregon and Western Washington recipients of the $1,000 Students of Integrity Scholarships. Students were asked to "
discuss how sustainable business practices and ethics are interrelated" and winning essays demonstrated awareness and understanding.
