Got goats? Goat Rental NW, a landscape equipment and supply company - based in the Happy Valley-Clackamas, Ore., area - rents out goats for vegetation eradication services; however, eight complainants tell Better Business Bureau that they paid hundreds or thousands of dollars upfront and received nothing.

Inquiries and complaints on Goat Rental NW have been coming in since June 2011; most were logged between November 2011 and April 2012. To date, BBB serving Alaska, Oregon and Western Washington has not received complaint responses from owner Georgina Stiner.

Oregon Secretary of State records for Goat Rental NW Corp show an administrative dissolution in October 2011.

Graze various sites. Don’t just look for low bids; fully research the top prospects. Look up business names and owners on search engines. View bidders’ websites, seek complete company profiles and study BBB Business Reviews at bbb.org.
Clear the brush. Before hiring landscape companies or renting livestock, make sure business licensing clears. See if any additional agricultural permits or competency licenses are required.
Spend bucks wisely. Contracts are critical. Avoid paying in full upfront; use credit cards in case payments or deposits need to be contested later.
